The code ∅e=50 denotes an outer diameter of 50 mm, ∅i=34 denotes an inner diameter of 34 mm, with a precise thickness of 2 mm (sp. 2mm). This highly compressible, non-burning washer is positioned directly beneath the lip of the gold-melting crucible or casting die. It forms a gas-tight seal to prevent the escape of protective gases (like Argon) during induction melting and continuous casting, while simultaneously cushioning brittle crucibles against mechanical stress and cracking during assembly tightening.
